Morecombe Half Marathon, Sunday 12th May 2013.
After carefully monitoring the weather forecast for the
last few days I wasn't looking forward to this half despite the promises of a
flat and fast course. Upon arriving at Morecambe it was obvious that nobody
else was particularly looking forward to running 13 miles in constant drizzle
and very brisk winds! Being the hardcore athletes that Tony has made us however
meant that dropping out was simply not an option. Excuses in advance for crap
performances were allowed though- holiday(admittedly long time ago now),
watching City lose final, dogs, large meal in restaurant last night and ongoing
injury-as we headed to the start. Once we got going it was a nice, fast 6 miles
with a couple of minor hills but so far so good. As we turned back into the
wind we faced a 4 mile trudge along the prom, past the start/ finish and up a
fairly steep hill which confused me somewhat given the flat course promised.
Back along the prom for the last few miles and then it was all over. Medal, mars
bar and t shirt were well received. Overall an enjoyable race, always easy to
say in a post race sugar fuelled frenzy, but with good weather this could be a
pb course.

Fab job everyone.. Looks like it has been an eventful weekend with plenty of PBs too at both the Half Marathons and Market Drayton 10k races.. Well done to all 🙂
