November 29th
Manchester Xmas Pudding 5 miler.
Wythenshawe Park.
This seemed a nice little race to do last year, so very pleased to see it in Tony’s Winter Enthusiasts League and more pleased with entries on the day . Gail decided to give it a miss so I headed there with Carolyn and bumped into Graham Screawn and his wife and former WRC member Sally Johnstone before the start.
The weather forecast was not good, warning of severe storms and heavy rain due at 11.00 AM, the rain stayed off but the wind was severe and made running across wet muddy fields hard going. The route is very similar to the parkrun course but with a loop around some woods alongside the main road.
I passed Graham at the half way point, Graham running in the opposite direction in 5th place, I still had the second loop of the woods to run, I passed Carolyn as she started the loop and I was finishing, I also managed to pass a couple of elves and a snowman as I ran through the woods, they had really been irritating me… Chatting as they ran… Xmas Bah Humbug.
Graham had a good second lap and managed to finish 4th, I slowed but still manged to pass a couple more runners thankfully not more elves but failed to catch Sally Johnstone who ran very well and finished second lady. Carolyn found the deep water tough going but finished strong.
