Wilmslow Members parkrun results 29th July 2023

 Another wet Saturday. Thirty-eight turned out to complete a parkrun at Seventeen events. You can tell it’s the summer holiday season!!

I’ll be brief.

Soloists, included: James who returned to the Downs and beat his 2019 time for a PB;  another who PB’d was Steve; RichardL back in Wales  First timing was RichardH at Northwich; and Janine  was down Wolly way. I have run the path Woolacombe to Puttsborough a few times. Didn’t think it was that wide for a parkrun. Must try and revisit it next year. Paul back at Burnage improved on his last time there this year. At Congleton Andrew let his female family runners unleashed. At the Alex,  Rebecca was second lady to finish – but she did have a PB. Four club members first timed. The two P.s turned to Wythenshawe. Paul was consistent. Me – goal achieved.

Eight squires competed. Two at Lyme. Kathryn’s run of PB’s came to a halt and Rachel first timed – hopefully pacing and not injured. The J’s had an almost perfect day first timing at Bramhall where Frankie was first lady home and Richard 2^nd overall. Tom pacing.

A few Freshers turned out. The Other J’s turned out at Didsbury. Whilst at South Mcr, three members got in before the Tourist ban – Markus first timed. Tracy had a great AG. Big Al had his quickest time this year?

With Wilmslow Cancelled again  Surprisingly Just three WAGS out at Alderley. All PB’d!  Mrs B moved onto 99 parkruns.

The Race- Boys and Girls took to Alexandra and Stretford.  Five went to the Alex. There were Four first-timers and Rebecca who PB’d. At Stretford Matt was the first member home, then Colin and Kate who both first timed.  Kate rolled back the years – her fastest parkrun since 2011! And a whooping AG. Roy, testing his knee again, was slightly slower than last week. But not that much to worry about. 🙂

The 2023 Goals I am striving to achieve continued. With the wet weather and Thursday night’s shortened race to put up with, and with Wilmslow cancelled; I looked at the  remaining over-30 club parkruns: Lyme, Stockpor,t and Wythenshawe! Parkruns where I was suffering from arthritis the last time and ran 30 plus minutes. So I chose Wythenshawe looking to knock that off that club. Rain gave way to sun as I arrived. I quickly discovered the start had changed and lined up in the battle charge set up. The widest start line I’d ever seen at a parkrun. The charge commenced. I safely navigated around the trees and onto the path. A little blowy at 600m but not too stiff. I counted the sub-30 target seconds down each k. When it got to 4k the challenge was over providing I didn’t fall. But could I sub-27? Only a really fast last k would do. I pushed on. A fast pace, but nothing left for the last straight – missed it by 4 seconds!  Not bad after Thursday. Two more over-30s to knock off.
