Festival Weekend with the pacing and marshalling that goes on with it saw a lower number of club runners out at parkruns on Saturday.
Rebecca tried out the new ‘Blues’ course near the Etiad and was Second Lady finisher! Nice that they named the parkrun after Kalvin! [MOT 😊]. Billy went North to Dunbarton – finished 3rd.
Andrew was back for a family outing at Congleton. Whilst RichardH took to the Water for his run.
Series-ly minded runners appeared at Bramhall, Didsbury, Alderley, the Alex and Wilmslow.
Oliver and GrahamS were Country Squires at Bramhall. PaulG the only Slicker out Saturday morning.
Mostly we had WAGS about.
Five at Alderley Park. James first home. Jarrod was 5th on his 50th parkrun and he PB’d by over 20 seconds. Graham and Markus top 10 finishers. Mike almost reaching his 250th parkrun.
Wilmslow was busier. Ashley first club member home. His 99th parkrun. Jim 7th – his fastest time there this year. And top AG! Next and edging closer – GrahamC ran his 98th. Janet not far behind and with and AG. Victoria nd Gareth gave the Etiad a miss – Gareth got a PB by 4 minutes over his 2016 time. Victoria closing in on her 200th parkrun. Jan out running again.
Lastly. The fresh-faced studious runners appeared at a windy and wet Didsbury. All 3 of us. Tips from Janine about puddles and inclines. I left them near the start line. Best starting back at myy age and speed. Hopingto cross off another sub-30. Wishing I’d brough gloves!! A few dogs [again] and prams round me. Off we went. I should know these paths. I ran round them most lunchtimes when I worked nearby. “Five thirty-seven” in my ears after 1K. Twenty-three seconds in the bank for my target. Started Blowing again both wind and breathing. Next K added 30 seconds to my surplus. Having trouble recognising some of these paths. Put it down to running them clockwise from work and these are anti-clockwise. Third K a struggle. Too fast a start? Fourth K concentrating on dogs and runners overtaking me. Slipstreaming them for a while. Eureka we exit the loops for the returning 1k. This is where I joined the paths many years ago. Pumped up the path. Rain started. Nothing left in legs for the tree lined finish. But happy that will be a fast one for me.
Reward of a Sausage batch at the Alpine. Best to date from my post-run breakfast! Watch showing sub 28!! Amazed. Turns out to be a PB by over 2 minutes from 2019 when I ran it last. Fastest parkrun since operation.
