A Comparatively low level, this undulating course is runnable, but it is still a challenging route and should be treated with respect. The location has easy access from the M6 and is at low level so is ideal for a February race. Next years is on February 10th.
Starting from Milnthorpe this stunning 19-20 mile route will take you to places that even many locals don’t get to see. You will pass through Dalham Deer Park, where you would be very unlucky not to see some of the resident fallow deer and the impressive Leighton Hall. Onwards to Leighton Moss Nature Reserve where you could spot a hunting peregrine falcon before passing Hawes Water and making your way to a fantastic technical single track along the stunning coastline. An ascent of Arnside Knott follows before an opportunity to climb the Fairy Steps where you will have a wish granted if you reach the top without touching the sides. If this doesn’t sound magical enough for you then the highest points offer outstanding views of Morecambe Bay and The Lakes.
Well enough of the intro. Our resident Hill Billy donned his orange shirt and took it on this Sunday – and came an excellent 3rd!
