A capital weekend saw 23 club members running At 11 Parkrun events.
In the land of rugby Steve first timed near the castle at a jam-packed parkrun. Up north the H’s chose Nicola’s stomping ground. Richard top in his AC and 2 seconds of his fastest park run. Sue second in her AC -Charlie made it a family outing.
Closer to home Some singletons took to the hills. Graham At Lyme Park; Rebecca -at Stockport First Lady. Matt, God’s Gift to running and caring, stayed local and was only 1 second off his PB set in 2016. Paul was the lone member at Bramhall – but was top AG.
A few Doubletons: The J’s hit Wythenshawe as they creep towards their 100th run. Paced by Rob, Frankie was 2 minutes quicker than in October. The Busy B’s were at Alexandra park– Tracy had a great AG.
Alderley Park was rescued by some late Wilmslow member’s assistance. Still, a number also managed to run. Sharon irst Lady. Richard made top 10, Jon PB’d. Oliver and Mike and Nick and Don had no improvements on their previous times. Though Nicky was 3rd on AG; Sharon 4th.
JD missed the other A park as he set off for the NY marathon.
Wilmslow was quiet but Jim ran his 100th parkrun and was 4th overall. JamesS 7th. Andrew and JamesE also ran. Jim 2nd on AG.
Whilst the Oracle of parkrun was assisting at Alderley, it came to pass that his reading of the runes came true at a wet and very busy park in Stretford. Feeling a little leggy and stuck behind a mass of runners. At 1k I was 28 seconds behind the pace. Looking ahead one could just see runners after runners. A snake! Just like the GNR when you’ve crossed the bridge and are climbing the hills!! . I felt a 31-32 minute run was about to happen. Narrow paths made overtaking a little dicey. Still, there were a few stretches you could slip by. Having timed the closing segment on the start loop. It was a bit of a shock to see the finish had been changed! It was clockwise not anti-clockwise! Do I push it or not? Not quite 7 months since the operation! Better not push too hard. Around the bend and tat was the finish – much earlier than envisaged. And sub-30 to boot! Pity the café isn’t open to try breakfast. Just a coffee machine!
