This weekend we had Thirty club members running At 10 Parkrun events.
A very busy Alderley event had 10 club members running. There were battles in both the ladies and the men. Louisa, first timing, pipped Sharon to be first Lady finisher. PaulG won the battle of the Paulos. Jon turned up to first time and was a little behind his daughter who PB’d. No PBs for club members. Nice to Mick running again – his fastest run this year on his first visit to the park. On AG Mick, Sharon and Louisa were 2nd, 3rd and 4th! Oliver was back again. As was Janine, Ian and Roy.
The Alexandra park was where Huma and Qes chose to run. Huma 2nd on AG.
Whilst at Didsbury Tracy Topped on AG. Her and Nic not far off PBs. Alan resting after all that Pacing he’s been doing [!] is not far off his 350Th run
The other busy Club Member event was Wilmslow where we had 7 runners – and Andy volunteered aqs well. Rebecca first lady to finish. Richard had a top 10 finish. Graham Paced. Jonathan had his fastest run there since 2017. Colin is approaching his 50th.
A family affair in South Manchester? Graham PB’d by nearly 4 minutes – but Victoria had an hours walk around with the other Amos family.
At Bramhall Rob was 3rd and top on AG. Phillipa left dad at home to finish as first lady. Graham took it easy after all that recent travelling and last weekend food.
Now Singletons: RobJ first home at Wythenshawe. Could that be practice for XC in the 12th of November? 😊 Steve PB’d at Lyme park – another XC runner in the making? Julian pacing daughter Layla at Harrogate.
That just leaves the Breakfast report from Rehab man. After last week’s rehab work – the hills at Lyme Park – it was time for puddles and paths – and rain!! Burnage where I first ran 10 years ago and last ran 4 years agon seemed a good place for breakfast. The course has sneakily changed since I last run. At the out and back turning point before lap 1, there were 20 runners behind me! It was very busy traffic wise with runners and I remembered that there are not many overtaking places. Especially in the woods. Still the big lake in the woods has gone! Managed to slowly pass a few runners. And only 2 finishers overtook me before I started lap 2. I won’t say I was fast but I was too quick for the photographer!! A glance at my watch at 4k gave me a target of sub 6 minutes to get a sub 31-minute time. [Which I’d be very happy with]. Managed to push the last straight without catching anyone or killing myself to get 2nd fastest parkrun this year. I wonder when the Striders are pacing at Wilmslow!! Run followed by towelling down, dry clothes then sausage bap and coffee all for £4.50. Great morning. Then off for flu jab and join Don in the queue.
