The last parkrun in May saw 22 club runners at 9 parkrun events across 3 nations. Perhaps Dunham 5k on Thursday may have led to a number of runners to choosing to rest and not run.
Hardest to get to and furthest north, and with fewest runners (64), where Nicky [island hopping or sat nav trouble?] ran a great 5k at Kirkwell -with a top ten finish and an AG of 82.18%. Unfortunately the remote island had another similar lady vet, who achieved an AG of 84.10%, and just pipped her. No parkrun there when I visited – but they had a very nice tea shop opposite the Cathedral! Well done – hope the sat nav gets fixed soon!!
From Scotland to Wales next. Conwy was graced by Di and Jeremy. Youngsters stole the show there coming first, third and seventh!! DiB was second lady home not far off her PB; Jeremy paced their daughters Ava, Annabelle around and all PB’ed. Fantastic. We might have a great ladies team in 7-8 years time.
Over on Dartmoor, Mike ran his second fastest time there, four years after his PB was set. IanS was back at York and ran a consistent pace.
Closer to home, Bramhall had the largest (413) number of runners. Usual suspects there: Janine with a quickish run, was second lady finisher, Paul a steady run after Dunham – run number 444!! Roy took on the most challenging course solo: At Lyme park and returned to knock 2 and a half minutes of his February and Summer parkrun competition time. Tim, Mr Consistency at the moment; cruised around Congleton – he is approaching his 50th there soon – having completed 46 runs to date.
Sale Water saw a mini club group of runners: IanA, after his triumph at Dunham, notched Sale of his summer parkrun list, he’ll no doubt return to clock a faster time; similarly AlanT notched of Sale with a quick time; and Kate – flying at the moment, a first timer, was second lady finisher on her 100th parkrun, and achieved her highest AG (78.92%) ever. Brilliant.
At sunny Wilmslow, we had cameras, and saw the RD do the longest directors cut off: ‘welcoming and informing us about thing’s – took 6 minutes. Further prolonged by an appearance of our local MP -interested in our health possibly? or support! She walked it with our tail runner.
I was hoping for something faster than last week, felt better too when I got there. Alas!!
Moving on ee had 10 runners and Tracy marshalling.
A few of those club runners chose to be pacers: Andrew (22 mins), Colin (24), GrahamD (26) and Laura (27) before setting off to Edinburgh.
Sam was first Wilmslow club runner home (3rd) consistent with his times recently, closely followed by Trevor who is in great form at the moment (6th) with AG of 82.94%.
Kathryn in only her 3rd run ran well just short of her PB. Jan cruised around for her second fastest time this year. Chris got himself out of bed and trudged around, ruing missing out on the quality of breakfasts after parkrun; he obviously missed the meat pasties and sausage rolls – and prosecco – that awaited finishers this week.
Tracy encouraged everyone from the top of the hill near the finish; her Nic, paced by Colin, was pleased with his fastest time this year. Me – it was a race of two laps – on target for sub 27 at the halfway mark – knocked off stride by the hill and suffered badly the second. Probably a PW! Still, holiday, rest, doctors – try and get a scan/referral! Or visit Aladdin and get use of a magic lamp.
GrahamD led daughter Anna around whilst he paced.
Trevor was leader on the AG filtered table. Sam made 8th.
