On a rainy and wet Saturday we had 30 club members running At 8 parkrun events
Gareth and Victoria were out and about in north Lancashire first timing in Accrington. Mike In the South West had a good run near the beach in a large field of runners.
Now, for the series-runners:
At Bramhall Janet started her Parkrun series runs. Whilst Richard chased Dave around at Lyme park.
One Fresher out. That was Roy, out and about Knee testing again. Much quicker than last week. Did his celebrations afterwards cause the South Manchester Parkrun to issue the statement:
“After today’s wonderful celebrations we wanted to take the opportunity to release a statement ahead of next weekends’ event. As per parkrun’s most recent guidance regarding the event number related challenges, we are kindly asking tourists not to attend South Manchester specifically for event 610. “
😊
Elsewhere with Wilmslow cancelled again. The knock-on effect was not seen at Alderley. Four club members ran. Markus came 4th with a PB. Graham made the top 10. Richard and Steve also ran.
The fast guys chose to go to the Alex! Sixteen runners from the club turned up. Half a dozen for the first time. Five finishers in the first 11! Andrew first club member home in 3rd position pipping Richards. Qes on his 99th parkrun was a few seconds off his PB. Franky first lady finisher. Huma pacing 😊
The other fast track – Stretford -had 3 club members. Rebecca was first lady to finish. And with a PB too. Rachel just missed her PB.
Stretford was where I gauged it would be the best course to run in the rain. It wasn’t as busy as last time and with a target of sub 27 it was a possibility that I might get it. No lake-size puddles to run through. Just the two narrow paths near the stadium having a lot of water about. 27 minutes would need 180 seconds off a 6-minute kilometre. I wasn’t blowing during the first kilometre. Could be a good sign depending on my pace. 5:32. Twenty-eight seconds towards target. A quicker second K. Now for the test. The third and fourth are usually where I seem to slow. What will they be? Just 2 and 3 seconds slower than the second kilometre. Must be on now. I pushed on past several runners [7 to be exact]. Into the Stadium. The runners behind me then took their revenge as 5 went past me. I couldn’t respond. Finished. Accomplished. The last kilometre was the fastest! Those two Tuesday five milers must be benefiting my stamina. Then the sting in the tail! It started to rain. I needed to get back to the Stand where my top was. I overtook a foursome to the coffee van, only to find out after a few minutes in the queue that there was no money/card in my pocket!! Back to the car. The rain getting heavier. Key fob won’t open car. Battery in it seems to have gone!! Oh well, as they say, you can’t have everything. Make the most with what you have.
If there is Anything or anyone missed – please add a comment.
