WRC #15: Shady Oak Tough 10k – July 13th 2023

It’s not called The Shady Oak Tough 10k for nothing!!

The race is on a mixture of road and rough stony trails. The race started above the Shady Oak pub on Elnor Lane in the Goyt Valley, climbs on minor roads up to Long Lane, skirting around Ladder Hill, dropping steeply down to Combs Village. The climb back from Combs is on minor roads, and goes up to the Wainstones. It is a great trial for those that enjoy a good hill. From there it is mostly downhill, mainly on road, back to the Shady Oak. The route is 10k in length and has a total of 320m of ascent.

Well Nineteen members took it on.  And were rewarded with good club league points for their efforts.

Most agreed it was tough. The views were great. And it was enjoyable in a challenging way. There were only 67 runners compete so I wont dwell too much on category positions. Suffice to say Graham was first Wilmslow man home. Louisa first Lady member home. Category Firsts for : Jim, Paul, Andy, Janine, Kate and Trevor
