There was me hoping for an easy write up with the last Series race [Festive 10k] on the next day! Was it our runners wanting a relaxing leg stretcher – or a last effort at bettering their parkrun Series times?
Let’s start with the B’s. Rebecca took the Route 66 to Join Paul at a very busy Bramhall. She was 2nd Lady finisher too. Paul top on his Ages Category [AC}. It was the 666th Parkrun there – which might explain the large attendance.
Well, that was quick – no more B’s! The C’s next. Tim back at Congleton – stretching his legs. At Cheadle – it was quiet as usual – it was their 300th Parkrun! Steve and Ian in the first 10.
Now jumping to the opposite end of the alphabet. The J’s took it easy at Wythenshawe. Oliver as they close in their 100th Parkrun. Oliver chose the nice course at Worsley Woods for his travels. Approaching his 200th parkrun he had his fastest run for a while. Most members stayed in Wilmslow. Nicky and Don were officiating/helping out. Andy and Jim were 3rd and 4th on AG. Jim first club member home in 5th. JP one second off his quickest time there this year. Sue and Roy improved their 2022 times.
Last but not least the A-park runners. James chose to visit the Palace in BBC’s 100th year. Whilst at Alderley we had 6 club members – 5 in the top 10. Looks like everyone was taking it easy – except RichardH – PB for him.
That just leaves the Formulae Parkrun Fast Track at Alexandra Park. Surprisingly only me turned up! Was Roy the prophet going to predict the result. Well he did tell me – young man you’ll do well if you ran here. Or something like that. Perhaps, to be honest, he didn’t say young!
A sprawling mass started. To be honest didn’t here the starter start. Nor did I spot where the real start line was. I started near the back. It was quite hard to overtake on the small starter lap. A few times it involved stepping onto the grass to avoid walkers!! I felt leggy. Too much gym work? Too many Joggles? Didn’t like the sharp U-turn either. Finishing lap 1 it was a little confusing to how lap 3 would evolve. I’d find out later. Half-way through lap 2. Still leggy and breathing hard! Thought I’d be have to settle for sub 30. -Visually the small lap 3 looked to be much bigger than I thought. And I was tired. But keeping focussed on the runners in front I Navigated the third lap and found it wasn’t really bad. Quite a surprise when I saw my watch!! Then chatting to a local runner asking for a nearby coffee place. He said the closed one was opening today with new owners. Couldn’t be better. A bit of a queue but Coffee and sausage roll for 5:30 – I think? Will come back in the new Year and start a bit higher up.
Summary
- Busiest: Bramhall [537]; Quietest Cheadle [40]
- Tourists: Oliver [Worsley Woods]
- PBs: RichardH

Fantastic run Patrick! I did say you would run well there and you proved it.
Thank you. To test your Oracle powers – can you can tell me how quick and where I should run a marathon I’d be grateful.
And lottery numbers for Saturday too please 🙂
Great report Patrick.
