A really busy Saturday – 36 Club runners at 14 parkrun events.
Looking at Soloists: Andrew back to the water – no improvement on previous times though. DaveB might not have made the audition for Strictly – but he got a ‘10’ for his performance at Elstree. Matt getting ready for XC at Lyme improved his previous time. Frankie took to the Heath to stretch her legs so she wouldn’t suffer cramp watching the Marathon on Sunday.
On the other side of the world – Tony may have come first but Angie picked up a first lady finisher, top AG and course category record.
A Bramhall, Paulo returned as did Mr and Mrs. S. But it was Sue with the honours – PB and second lady. No Breakfast club outing this week but Richard put in a quick run at at Marple.
A very busy Stretford saw dad succumb to Daughter who was first female finisher. Sill dad was second on AG with over 80%. Col The Great man from the North first timer.
A quieter Alderley saw Tim first time. Sharon second lady home, Jarrod PB’d and Oliver was quick – to miss the breakfast queue?! At another Ally Pally JD returned. Whilst the third Al-ly Park had quite a number of things going for it: Tracy 2nd on AG, Big Al PB’d, Nic managed to run a parkrun after-nearly 2 months away from running. – JP no improvement.
Wilmslow had Sam first male runner home . He’ll be off back to Uni next wek and this let other runners come first for a whileDi back after 4 months 2nd Lady home. GrahamD 8th Pipping Markus by 5 seconds. A quick time from James and Jonathan had his fastest here since 2017.
South Manchester Rebecca was second Female home. Victoria and Gareth returned but no improvement on their previous times. Whilst PaulG equalled his best time there this year. It was left to Roy to improve his summer series time by 11 seconds. Next run for his is his 200th. I wonder where that will be!! 😊
To finish. Hats off to Peter. Last year he set the category course record for his age. This week – no doubt pressured by Hip-Hops return – Set the Course Record for his new Age Category. Steve first timed and encouraged by the Congleton Pacers ran his fastest time at a parkrun event. After a long Gym session on Thursday; after a Covid jab that morning which caused a high body temperature and bad night’s sleep; Hip-Hop wasn’t expecting an improvement on last week’s Bramhall time. But the Pacers helped/pushed him. A tactic of just keeping in frond to the 32-minute pacer and her dog went awry on the last lap as he discovered the 31-minute pacer 200m from home a little ahead of him! A nice shock. Just hope there’s no reaction in the next 3 days. Tour de North next week.

Thanks Patrick for another great round-up of ParkRun news.
I must congratulate you on your continued improvement, it’s great to see. Also, hats off to Peter Watson for another incredible run at the ripe old age of 85.
Gareth & Victoria were ‘pacing’ at South Manchester, but due to Garmin issues they got it wrong. At one point after about 2k I had the 27/28/29/30 minute pacers all in a line in front of me, some 30 metres apart! I knew I was running under 30 minutes, but had no idea just how far under. It was quite off putting. Victoria who was the 30 minute pacer stopped before the finish to allow for her time to catch up! I haven’t decided on where for my 200th, but Bramhall is looking favourite, as that’s where it all started for me with Rob Downs.
