The Manchester Mile, in memory of David Coleman OBE, is a rare race over the iconic one mile distance. It takes place on the athletics track at Sportcity with electronic timing to 100th of a second and a photo-finish.
It is open to all abilities – each heat is seeded – and everyone who takes part receives a commemorative training t-shirt.
One Club member took up the challenge.
He finished 8th in his heat but PB’d with a time of 4:32:07. knocking over 3 seconds off his previous best
His thoughts afterwards: Good considering last week was a write off. Strong field, could’ve been more aggressive maybe but just had to hang on with the group as long as poss. Great event, highly recommended.
Well done Richard. Why don’t some more members try this out next year.
