Another sunny Saturday morning. Perhaps the races midweek tired out a few runners. But we still had 19 club runners out running at 8 parkrun events.
Roy topped everyone on tourist miles; first timing and running sub-30 at Land’s End. Oliver chose a scenic parkrun as he first-timed at Trentham; a recent addition to parkrun events and a popular one with 473 runners out on Saturday.
Other first timers included Jim at Didsbury.
Solo-ists included: AndrewG at a very busy Stretford. Not sure if he is recovering from injury as his time is slower than usual – but he may be racing Sunday for all I know. 😊. Rebecca at Macclesfield – a new course and a minute off her 2019 pace. Still not bad after just getting back from holiday!! Alan, another taking to grass PB’d by nearly 2 minutes at a Quiet Cheadle.
A very quiet Bramhall with just Graham and Paul running. Even though the hills had tired Paul out – he still was top in his Age Category [AC].
The Breakfast Club took to Didsbury. Jim also ran and yet again improved his parkrun time for the 6th run on the trot as well as topping his Age Group. Richard had a quickish run. Chris had his fastest time there this year. Carolyn PB’d just beating her 2018 time. No doubt reasons for a pre-birthday breakfast treat! Shazza was there too with her quickest parkrun since 2018!! I wonder if you can get candles on a bacon butty? !!!
That just leaves a busy Wilmslow where we had 8 club runners. Sam first Wilmslow runner home, just a few seconds off his PB. Di first lady finisher again – her quickest time since 2020 and an AG over 80%. I see Mark PB’d by a minute. It’s his 6th PB on the trot at Wilmslow. I wonder if Robin was pacing him. Either way they just pipped young Archie!! Graham had his quickest run for ages; Sharon not her quickest. Colin his quickest since 2020. Andy pacing and finishing with an AG of over 80%. Ian with his quickest Wilmslow time since Jan 21. Di and Andy and Sharon top 3 on AG
Richard and Andy helping out.
Apologies if I have missed anyone.
Summary:
- Busiest: Stretford [477 – Just!]; Quietest: Cheadle [49];
- First Finisher: Sam and Di
- Top AG Di
- AG’s *0%+: Di [82.08%] and Andy [80.97%]
- Tourist: Land’s End [Roy]

The Land’s End ParkRun is certainly scenic. You run about a mile out along an undulating gravel cycle path up to a turning point. You then retrace your steps before running out to three laps around the first and last house in England. Each lap has a climb, so not a particularly fast course. After driving down to Cornwall the day before I was pleased to break 30 minutes.
