WRC Members parkrun results Saturday 5th of February

A Total of 26-27 Wilmslow Club Members took part in

An almost deserted Wilmslow led to a couple of popular venues this week. Perhaps runners were wary of puddles and lakes on the course?

Matt  turned  up at  Cheadle In memory of his brother-in-law Damien who was a regular marshall and runner at Cheadle Hulme Parkrun.  It’s a good place for XC training, getting a best finishing position and winning your age category!  So Matt, first timed and headed the 7 in his Age Category and was also 7^th on AG.

Other lone runners, or Singlets as I like to refer to them as, included:

• Jarrod at Didsbury – back running a pa6-7rkrun since last November. Top in his Age Category ahead of 13 runners;
• Graham, at Wythenshawe; Pipp’d by the first lady home. But, first in his Age Category[AC], ahead of 21 other runners.
• Rebecca at South Mcr had her quickest parkrun since December; 2^nd in her category out of 30.2/30. Amazing what Runm and Coke do for you. Who needs a Red Bull. 🙂
• And Angie at her local course – managing to come second  in three categories: gender, Age category and AG!

Doublets, Col and John, chose the Hills at Lyme Park to run at. Col paced John to his best time since 2018! Col 3^rd and JP 2^nd in their ACs.

• Other doublets: The Breakfast Club were leaderless this week. Still Carolyn ran sub 30 and Richard had fastest run  since October. The Andrews family were at busy Stretford where 8 out of the first 11 either PB’d or First-Timed.. Mr G ensured he wasn’t beaten by the first lady whose name would be a fantastic scrabble score. Well, it was hard  to believe but we had only 4-5 runners at Wilmslow. But what stats!! First male and female runner home; three in the top 5; and all in a bakers dozen! Sam PB’d by 9 seconds; Di fastest since 2020. On AG, Di was first, Mike 3^rd, Sam 4^th and new member Sue[?] 5^th! Graham had his quickest run since Christmas day.  All category winners except Graham and Sue who were second. Though Sue was just a few seconds off her PB. Don helped out. Nicky directed. Don became the centre of attention himself when he accidentally ripped his down jacket while helping to clear up – the feathers were flying and followed him all the way to Nourish where he finally managed a well earned coffee!

A bigger turnout at Alexandra Park. The ladies were in fine fettle. Their runs were great too!!Both first in their category.  Huma was our first runner home with an AG over 80%. Nic was gain 3^rd time on the trot sub 24! Roy sheltering from the winds was sub 29. After an appeal against the timekeeper being rejected. Tracy had to settle for equalling her PB and her category course record! Tip for Next week – start 2 metres nearer the front!! On AG

Just a Busy Bramhall to go: seven runners. We had second male and female finisher. Barry Harried Rob finishing ahead. Rob came 3^rd. On AG is was a switch around. Rob Top AG, Barry Second, Sharon top lady in 4^th. Mr G still holds the power over Mr N is the battle of the Paulo’s. But RichardL was ahead of both of them. Oliver ran too.

Summary:

Busiest Event: South Manchester [443]; Quietest Cheadle [40].

Top Age grade at Event: Di  and Rob

AG 80%+ : Tracy (85.26%); Rob (83.3%); Barry (81.75%) Di (81.52%]; Huma (80.08%)

First Finisher: Sam and Di.

Course category record [equalled]: Tracy 85.26%
