Oh Well we tried. But alas, Marple’s 124 runners [max allowed is 125!] were too much for our 77 runners. Fair play – it’s in the rules; and it is a ‘Mob’ match which assists clubs which can get more feet out running. Anyway well done for your sterling efforts in the poor conditions.
I can’t see the official document – but my quick analysis shows Marple had 10,554 points to our 9,725. A win by 829 points. We did have some quick runner’ times and incredibly would have only needed another 5 sub 22:50 runners to have run to have won. UPDATE I can now see the official results. They match mine.
Good things to take from our performance are:
- Last time against Widnes we had 56 runners This time 77 runners: 31 ladies and 46 men ran.
- We had 9 in the first 10 positions
- We had 14 Cat-1 times:
- Female: 11-17 Kathryn; NicR 18-39; Stacey V40; Sharon V45 and Tracy V55.
- Male: Qes 18-39; RichardC V40; PeterS V45; AndrewW v50; Tim V55; PaulN v60;Tom V65; Mick V70 and IanA V75
Interestingly, we think of ourselves – well some do! – as an older member club. Well Marple had 4 cat-1 times: M11-17; Fv50; Fv60; FV65; FV75.

Let’s see what we can do against Bury. I think they won 4569 to 1755. They had 72 runners – Widnes had 40. As usual Bury had 23 of the first 25 positions and 27 times under 20 minutes!!! And 10 over 30 minutes!!
