From Run North West, a reminder:
Wilmslow Festive Virtual 10K Begins This Weekend!
This year’s one-of-a-kind medal is here ready and waiting for participants of our 2020 Wilmslow Festive Virtual 10K, 5K & Junior 2K!!
We think you’ll agree it’s the perfect festive reward for your efforts! Our virtual run is a replacement for the live race that should have been this Sunday 29th November, which unfortunately has had to be postponed to November 2021 as a result of the ongoing situation with Covid-19. We have done our best to adapt to the crisis throughout 2020 by devising a series of virtual races, this being the finale and we hope that they have provided a focus for many runners this year.
Our 2020 limited edition gingerbread man medal is up for grabs for the whole family in this new virtual race which begins this Sunday 29 November and runs until Thursday 31 December (early entry is advised due to limited numbers of medals). There are 3 entry options: 10K for Age 15+, 5K for Age 11+ and a 2K Fun Run for Ages 4-14 and all entries will receive the gingerbread medal!
You can choose to run it on race day (this Sunday) or anytime up until 31st December. Run (or walk) on a course of your own choosing, at a time to suit you and record your run using a GPS watch or fitness tracker which you must then upload to receive your medal (link to upload in confirmation email).
We have also added prizes to appeal to more competitive runners in the 10K distance. Prizes can be won for top three men and women, top three wheelchair men and women and age group winners! You can view the leader board to see what time you need to be in with a chance of a prize.
As the run is held throughout Christmas, we encouraged you to have some fun and wear themed fancy dress (although not essential!) to get into the festive spirit in spite of the restrictions. Share your photos on social media (use tag #wilmslowfestive10k). There are additional fancy dress prizes across all distances including the Fun Run!
Medals will be posted out upon your submission of proof of time or you can collect in store from this Sunday (29 November) which was the scheduled date for the live race. Hours for collecting from store on Sunday are 9am to 5pm.
The Wilmslow Festive 10K has, over the last three years, raised more than £60,000 for Manchester hospital, The Christie. If you would like to, you can still fund raise this year by opting to run for The Christie (please tick the box on entry and they will be in touch) who like many other charities has struggled in 2020.
Good luck to everyone running this weekend, we hope you have lots of festive fun and we can’t wait to see all your race photos!
