England Athletics has launched the Weekly Cross Country Challenge – a free weekly virtual running challenge, that encourages runners aged 11 or over of all levels to compete throughout each week in lockdown number 2.
The focus of this challenge is to see if you can improve over one distance across the space of 4 weeks, and therefore a personal challenge. You will of course be able to view other results week on week and see how you fair against other competitors. With this in mind it is recommended that you choose one distance to compete in across the 4 week duration, however you can, if you choose, enter into multiple distances per week.
Your route must include on an open or woodland area, covered as far as possible by grass, with natural obstacles. This is what makes this different to a Virtual Road Race. You can upload your time and distance through Strava or manually upload your time.
Athletes aged 11 and over can compete in this challenge.
All entrants take part at their own risk and we advise all runners who take part to do so in line with the UKA rules for competition guidelines for Cross Country. (see below)
All participants must ensure they socially distance whilst taking part in this challenge. They may run their distance with members of their own household, or one other person from another household socially distanced.
Age Group Maximum Distance: All Athletes Under 13 years 3,500 metres, Under 15 years 5,000 metres, Under 17 years 6,500 metres, Under 20 years 10,000 metres, Seniors Unlimited

On our normal XC challenge an update from Nick:
I am still exploring a couple of MACCL venues, and visited a new one on Monday. Had to discount the latter.
Some further XC news to follow! Post Monday call with MACL.
