It’s nearly 3 weeks since I asked you all to have a go. step out of your comfort zone. Do something different! Sadly not many replies. I published Nick’s last week. There’s still a week to send me your go! Otherwise it might just be Poetry Corner – not Poetry Week!!!
Also any injury news is most welcome before month end. Now back to poems, Today’s it is from our leader.
Running in Lockdown
Maintaining our insistence
To exercise each day
With etiquette of distance
And rules for giving way
Just following new orders
Establishing our code
We smile at passing walkers
And move into the road
And bolt down new-found trails
Inventing different routes
The challenge still prevails
In segmented pursuits
Although it’s getting harder
To train without a race
We’ve checked each other’s Strava
And tried to match the pace
And followed virtual classes
Parkruns that don’t exist
While every day that passes
Reminds us what we’ve missed
When all of this untangles
And we can meet again
We’ll look back and be thankful
That running kept us sane.
