There wont be another Saturday 29th February for 28 years so 22 club runners notched up that sporting fact, at 7 events, to their career achievements! Quite a low turnout. perhaps the blustery storms are getting to you all. 🙂
I am still dog-tired after a week back from IndoChine! Leg not better too! :(. Still:
Malcolm chose the bigger hills at Lyme park for his first outing there this year. Stephen at his local course recorded his fastest 2020 time to date.
At Didsbury the Jackson Two returned. Nick First to finish and Frankie 4th lady home both PB’d. It was Nick’s fastest parkrun anywhere. TrevorM first timed with a sub-20, whilst the Mixed Breakfast team chose this course to run.
After finishing second two weeks running, Barry led Rob all the way round for them to be the first two finishers. Both had great AGs too. GrahamS put in a quickish run. Paul missing his pacer ran 22 minutes, Janine 23.
That just leaves Wilmslow. AndrewW ran hit fastest there for a year, RichardHa a little behind and then Tim just off his recent PB. MikeH and AndyW followed. GrahamD might have been pacing daughter Anna around or wallowing in the recent upturn in his sides performances. [Volunteer Pacer apparently]. Ian led Roy around , both finishing with simalr times to their last outing here.
IanS chose to venture into the Yorkshire Wolds for his 199th. Golden girl Rebecca either had to0 many prosecco popsicles, chose to pace, or was running with friends. She recorded her slowest time! Actually the reason was:
My third and final Parkrun of my holiday did not go to plan. Due to an incident with a broken mug earlier in the week, my foot had been cut and bandaged up meaning I wasn’t able to run. But with parkrun falling on the 29th February for the first time ever I was determined to complete the event. So I set out walking/hobbling listening to a podcast and waving to friends along the way (I probably shouldn’t have been walking either!) Just after 3km I decided to pick up the pace slightly and try a little run/walk, just so I could complete it quicker! I managed the whole distance in 45:00 (my slowest ever!) but it just goes to show you that it doesn’t matter how you do it, a 5km parkrun is still 5km and its all about taking part that counts.

The course is as idyllic as it sounds! This is where my running journey began, my first ever parkrun and my first ever run in 2015. This is my official home parkrun and will always be special to me. I love coming back here, not only for the weather and scenery, but to see my Aussie parkrun family. Year after year they are still here and the community is growing, just as it is in the UK. When I first started, numbers rarely reached 100 but now Golden Beach averages around 250 participants each week, and its easy to see why. The course is almost pancake flat, 2.5km out and back along the esplanade beside the beach giving runners, walkers, push chairs and dog walkers the chance to take in the scenery, see their friends on the course and not to mention top up their tan!
