Alderley trail race – Sunday 19th January 2020

Hi!

The second – but most popular race this weekend was Run North West’s 5 mile winter trail race. The race is a 2-lap course over 5 miles within the hidden grounds of Alderley Park, taking in the impressive lake, the working farm and the beauty of the grounds. It was billed as being good for  those training for a new challenge or those looking for a sociable jog in the fresh countryside air, a trail race through the hidden grounds of Alderley Park.

We had 20 Club runners competing.

Interesting 2 of our members had entered both this race and the Half Marathon at Helsby!  Sue chose this race whilst Huma chose the Half Marathon.

The Saturday Bramhall Park runners Rob and Janine were Age Category winners; another Category first winner was Claire – well she would be  as she was first lady too!

Other category placings included: PaulN 2nd V60; SallyP 2nd V40;  JamesS 3rd V35;  MikeH 3rd V50; IanA 3rd V70 and SueS 3rd V55.

Rob was 7th fastest club runner,  on Chip timing. JamesS  second club runner home was 15th.

Quite a number of Saturday park runners competed: MikeH, Rebecca, ColinC , PaulN and IanR.

MarkB  competed and JamesM tried out his leg whilst pacing charlotte around. Craig, SallyP and Julian raced round; ChrisC and RichardHi paired up – not sure in breakfast baps were on for them afterwards!

IanA showed Roy a clean [or muddy!] set of heels. Don took time of from photographing at events to run this 5 miler. Laura – injured? – marshalled. Ex member Amy was running too.

  1. Thanks Patrick. Ian and I had a battle royal with me taking the first lap. At the start of the 2nd lap Ian was concerned about losing me and put in one almighty effort which eventually saw him pull clear. I was pleased to run 64 seconds quicker than when I ran the course last July. Roy

  2. A rare race outing for me nowadays, but after seeing Roy and Ian beforehand my intention was to use them as pacers and then sprint past up the hill to the finish. 🙂 However, I lost sight of them in the ‘start huddle’ and so ended up enjoying a more social run in the company of and pacing paramedic Sara Harris from Wilmslow Parkrun. Laura Fairhurst: Great write up Patrick and yes and a lot will know from my constant moaning I am on the injured bench
    Hopefully I’ll be back soon
Chris Cannon: Great report Patrick thank you.
I took the social option. No breakfast though
