Winter’s definitely Coming! I was due to try out Lyme Park.,But woke to the sound of heavy rain and with three aches in my right leg which still hadn’t gone a way since Woodbank last week. Do I defy ‘er in doors and run? Will Lyme Park be too much with legs not feeling great. Another course? Would any be cancelled if I went? Burnage, Cheadle? I made a cup of tea and resigned myself to the Rugby. Then got out the cold and flu medicine to help combat the ‘thing’ that has hit me badly since Tuesday! Yes! Good decision really based on health – the kids would have ratted on me when Jan got back on Sunday if I’d gone out!
Well looking AT THE ABSENCE OF RESULTS! 12 Club runners ran at 4 events !I guess the weather hindered a lot of you too. I don’t think many were down to do the Langley 7 or whatever it’s called now! Back to parkrun.
At a busy Stretford Huma ran her fastest since March! Mike first-timed at Newby Bridge and produced a quick run to finish 6th home. Janine and Paul went to Woodbank and got in some Hill practice.
At Wilmslow NicB and AndyW volunteered in the rain and floods whilst 9 club runners chose to run. Lyn paced her son around and Catherine poodled around in the puddles but SamB was second home and was followed by TrevorM [5th] , GrahamD [8] and AndrewC [11]. The course was hastily redone to be 4 laps. Slightly over 5k. Even so there were puddles to run through and runners running in both directions as the race ran out!
Laura and ColinC kept together for the run. ChrisC continued his progression to his 250th in a few weeks time. IanA, Roy and a couple of dinosaurs also ran; but with weather, course layout and conditions – they had no improvements on their 2019 times.
With the course reworked into 4 half laps due to floods there was no apparent performance of note. Somebody will correct me if I have missed anything, though Margaret as usual exceeded 80% on the AG table. I heard rumours of incidents and discontent from a few lady runners about !! No doubt our runners know more.

Thanks Patrick for your usual splendid commentary. Janine & Paul actually ran at Woodbank Park, not Wythenshawe. The Wilmslow revised course I am told by Ian was over distance, but it was also a case of running through ankle deep water while trying to avoid runners coming back the other way, very congested. Lyn finished with her son Teddy in 31:56, while Catherine was around 34:30.
Thanks Roy. As usual your eyesight is a lot better than mine! 🙂
