Well it’s holiday season: who’s gone a-touristing? Who – of the Eleven in the Dancer- faired better after a night out? 🙂 Read on:
In all 13 parkrun venues were visited by 26 club runners.
JamesS visited South Sussex and strolled around the newly introduced Uckfield course to finish second home. Laura ran at Blyth and was second lady home, getting her speed back after all those long runs. ColinC decided to be marshal!
IanS was in Lancashire, Cuerdon Valley, near Bamber Bridge for a trail and hilly outing. The Tourists added more miles to their park running and visited Brokenhurst in Hants. In a strong ladies field, Sharon was 1oth finisher but 4th Lady; another one added to Oliver’s growing list!
Streford saw the largest number of runners (643). GrahamS first timed with a really quick time. Qes ran with his mum Huma who returned to park running after 2 months. Janine ran with the fewest (45) at Brotton near Saltburn-by-the-sea, another recently formed event, where she was 8th – second lady home.
The Friday Revellers? Well, Smarty Shirt returned to Sale and knocked 2 seconds off his fastest time there this year – it pays to keep to halves and leave early 🙂 whilst the Ferryman managed to squeeze a quick time and knock off South Manchester off his Parkrun competition list. A bientot! The StockportFC Twins, Dunna Care and Whats-the-Score had mixed results. Bed won for one and the other improved their 2019 Wilmslow time by 2 seconds – very good after taking care of a couple of Assassins the previous night. The Commander, a leading reveller, revisited Congleton and was paced around by No Show who ticked her parkrun completed list. She also helped him knock a minute off his 2019 best time. Hopalong didn’t make it to Congleton – he needs a miracle now. Doctor Congleton didn’t make it there too! He may have given up on his last drink and got Blinded By the Light but he still managed to visit Stockport and PB by almost 3 minutes, finishing 6th and was 4th overall on AG. Not sure if the Voice of Radio, another long term reveller, was there to welcome PaulN home at Bramhall, Paul returning home after a short break ran another quickish time. Nineteen-plus-or-minus-ten rationed himself and left early- and was rewarded with 19:11 at Wilmslow – and had an AG of 81.49%. Mr consistency. The Lady in Black ghosted in late and was given such encouragement by the Commander and The Voice that she PB’d next day! Two-Halfs-of-Lager-and-a-Bowl-of-Nuts was clever and left early to direct next day, ably assisted by AndyW, DonB and RoyP.
At Wilmslow there was a fair bit of talent – some young ones too. Altrincham and Macc had clubs had presence: Andy Norman finishing second behind local runner Terry Greenwood. See Roy’s comment below to see why!
SamB was first club runner 7th – just behind two young (JM15-17) Macclesfield lads; TrevorM, RichardH and RobinH followed. Tracy was first Wilmslow lady home in a quickish time. Then a gap before we saw the revellers Gareth on his second park run of the year get his two second improvement; and Kathryn with her PB of 10 seconds – well done! JohnP chose to run locally for a change and bettered his 2019 time by 11 seconds. Finally a big hurrah to: TrevorF who returned to running after his long lay off and ran his first parkrun for more than 2 and a half years! Margaret was back to head the AG table from Terry; Trevor and Tracy were 3rd and 4th – Richard 7th.
Apologies to all revellers and any person or achievement missed. Full results below:

What should be said, as I was marshalling at Wilmslow to witness it, was that Andy Norman sprinted round the course pushing a pram with his offspring in it! He employed a technique of shoving the pram ahead of him a metre or so as he sprinted up the hills. I have never seen anything quite like it at a ParkRun. He would have won comfortably without the pram.
