Rain, rain, rain and more rain! Whilst a few runners were making their way to the London marathon, some people escape rain by leaving for foreign lands; and others who remined in bed or wondered if they should begin to think of building an Ark, club runners ran in 25 events on Saturday!
Bramhall saw RichardL return and run a minute quicker than a month ago. Just the one Paul here -PaulG preferring the Italian sun – and local lady Janine back from sunning herself in Holywood last week 🙂
GrahamS went to Liverpool and produced his second quickest time this year. RobJ at Wythenshawe getting quicker with each run this year. Another sub-25 from Angie at Marple. She is running well this month. Whilst IanS chose to battle Lyme Park and Kate visited the new Cheadle course and ran a very good time considering the weather. Roy chose Cornwall and a four lap special course somewhere near Cambourne to set a new PB with his fastest run this year.
Sale saw Jan have her quickest run this month, Carolyn and Chris were a tad slower than their earlier runs this year. PaulN chose the sun and sea and jetted off to Italy. He was third person home – albeit in the smallest turnout at a nice course near Palmero.
At Wilmslow 11 of us were there in the rain there was a reduced number [178] of runners overall. Don and Laura (taking a well-earned rest from Marathon training) were marshalling whilst a few plodded through the puddles. There seemed to be a lot of Scarab tri shirts around; Mr and Mrs D were amongst those wearing them, wonder whether they have had a few recruits or someone has bought a job lot!! 😊
Jim, consistent as ever, was first male finisher home, he was second around halfway when I saw him, so presumably finished strongly in the worsening weather. Sam (5th home) almost caught ex club member Paul and was followed by Trevor ran his usual and consistent run with an AG of 81.07% in the rain. Robin (a minute of his recent PB) and Mike with his fastest for a couple of months were 7th and 8th home. GrahamD ran strongly and just missed out going sub-20.
RichardH eased his legs into motion after Manchester, Alan nearly hit sub-25. Matt still feeling it after his recent op, took his lad around; and young James in his second Parkrun achieved a PB by over 20 seconds – well done!
Mark – already into a 5 miles pre-race workout – ran 3:43 marathon pace; he should do well at Edinburgh as will Laura no doubt! – before continuing on another chunk of miles Myself struggled with the leg – knew shortly after the first bridge I wouldn’t be able to do 26 minutes. Will probably need a swap with another pacer or a substitute for the 11th of May!
We had some seniors running: on the men’s side Ian (MV75) and four MV70s; for the ladies Ann (VM75) plus seven LV60s. As usual AG-wise Margaret from Macc (VW70) achieved 82.36%, Trevor was closest to this.
Apologies as always yo anyone missed.

Thanks Patrick, great summary but who is the local lady Janine that Paul met in Italy? I think we should be told!
Alas (and John – that’s not another lady!!), the locality is Bramhall . Unless you know things I don’t 🙂
