Parkruns are good, but I felt I needed a tough shortish race to kick start my year, what could be better than a this local well organised race.
In the past this has been run through a quagmire, once I seem to remember a 100 yard lake, quite deep in the middle, Huma and Gail ran through in fear of drowning.
Not this year, last summer’s drought means the ground is still soaking up the water, apart from a few puddles road shoes would have been a better option, I would describe the going as good to firm.
I expected to see a few more WRC runners, met up with Craig briefly at start, we had a quick discussion about the route but apart from passing him running in the opposite direction at one of the turns, that was the last I saw of him. He ended up with him limping out of the race last year, he had a much improved race this year.
I was pleased with my time of 40.47, a minute slower than last time back in 2016, a really good way to start the year.

Its an area that I use to train on in the Summer…Great choice of terrain!
