Simon reports……
Bowdon 5k – North Cheshire 5k Grand Prix Race No. 3
7th June 2018.
It was on this Grand Prix series a few years ago that Carolyn coined the expression “mugged in the funnel” as on at least three occasions I caught her just before she could dive into it. Well what goes round etc, as for the second week on the trot I got caught on the undulating run in to the finish and ended up second – last week five seconds, this week one. Andrew came almost as close in the V45 losing out by two seconds to Michael Harrington yet again but he did reduce the gap from last week’s fourteen seconds. The Jackson Two also turned out, Rob forty three seconds quicker than Birchwood and Nick three and again picking up first V50. I recall the last time Pete ran this race five years ago running a long 22 minutes – at the age of 75! Some inspiration that man.
Fortunately there were no team prizes this week or I would have been our fourth counter.
1st 16.12 Matthew Shaw Salford Harriers
13th 17.36 Andrew Whittingham 2nd V45
14th 18.01 Rob Jackson
18th 18.49 Jenny Evans Salford Harriers
24th 19.11 Nick Jackson 1st V50
118th 25.56 Simon Fenton 2nd V70
134th 27.30 Pete Watson
138th 28.20 Roy Pownall
157 ran.
Well done everyone. Shame about the muggin!
Ah, justice has been done!
Well done fellas, great running. Carolyn
