Paul N reports….
Depending how near the front you start and how fast you can run, the Great Manchester 10k is either the chance to run a world class race, a chance to run with friends and family, or a chance to raise money for charity. For Richard Coen, who you may have seen on TV finishing among the elite runners, it was definitely the former; for some of us, the latter. It’s not the most exciting course in the world but what it lacks in scenery it more than makes up for in terms of atmosphere and occasion. In very hot conditions exacerbated by an early afternoon start, the water stations and drizzle showers were more welcome than ever and, although it wasn’t an easy day for PBs, it was a great occasion to be part of. It’s hard to spot each other on the day among the tens of thousands but these results are taken from the ‘Elite Men and Masses’ table. It looks like the first 40 are listed according to gun time, the rest of us by chip time.
1 Mo Farrah 28:27 Gun
31 Richard Coen 33:35 Gun
221 Robin Hall 40:52 Chip
426 Paul Norris 43:25 Chip
702 Sally Price 45:10 Chip
1092 Patrick Grannan 47:20 Chip
1425 Graham Screawn 48:25 Chip
2067 Ian Roberts 50:48 Chip
