Injury Update.
Paul Garnett.
A hamstring injury four miles into the Sutton 10k is proving difficult to shake off. Paul is back running a short distance every other day to build up muscle strength but reckons a further two weeks before he makes it back on a Tuesday.
James MacDonald.
The long term Achilles injury is now 95% healed so James is easing himself back into light running with a hoped for back to full fitness in a couple of months.
Huma Rahman.
The bad injury sustained on the London to Paris bike ride in the summer has finally healed so Huma is about to start light training back at the club.
Barry Archbold.
Barry’s initial comeback from the calf injury which sadly kept him out of success in the Cheshire Grand Prix series proved premature and delayed him a further month. His parkrun performance this weekend indicates he is almost back to fitness.
Tim Billington.
Another successful comeback this weekend in the parkrun at Congleton after only a couple of weeks training proved that the sciatica problem is behind him. Tim should be back at the club this week.
Pete Watson.
Another man gamely combatting sciatica. He says being away from the club is dreadful so he is coming down and doing a few laps on the track but he is still not able to pick up his training.
Gail Hill.
By her own admission a showboating finish in the Heaton Park cross country damaged what we initially thought was a piriformis problem. The next day, and against advice from those who could see a point uplift, she ran Farndon. The fact she finished the race speaks volumes for her guts. Wayne subsequently diagnosed the damage as hamstring. Gail is desperate to get back for Boggart Hole Clough – without the flash finish.
Damian Nicholls.
The foot stress fracture is proving slow to heal – compounded by his job and general impatience! He is back running, but not quite ready for the club yet.
Zoe Eyre.
Another Achilles victim and another a long time out. No date set yet for a return.
Ladies Changing Room Update.
One of the two heaters is back working. The other will be replaced this coming Thursday. They are set to come on with a timer and – to quote Tony – “not to be fiddled with”.
Urban Orienteering, Macclesfield – Thursday 2nd November.
This was picked up late so apologies about the short notice. You will have seen from this morning’s email that Ian Gilliver has been kind enough to allow us to join in with their event. It really is a great night and tough training – but great fun. We are allowed to run in pairs. Ian needs to know by 1 00 tomorrow so get paired up and get back to me before then on simon.fenton@sfp-mcr .co.uk. If you are uncertain, still let me know and Ian will reserve a map or thee.
