Park Run 4 Competition

A new club competition to go alongside the Winter Competition and the Summer Series.

The initial pilot competition will run from January to June 2017.

The plan, then, is for it to run twice per year; July-December and January-June.

To compete you need to run 4 different park runs during the six month period.

For January-June 2017, this will be any 4 of Bramhall, Burnage, Congleton, Lyme Park, South Manchester, Stretford, Wilmslow, Woodbank and Wythenshawe.

I wanted a competition in which the poorer and middling runners had an equal chance of winning as the good runners, one in which choosing to do the hiller Park Runs (like Lyme and Woodbank) was not a disadvantage compared with choosing the faster courses (like Stretford and South Manchester) and one in we were free to run different Park Runs rather than repeating the same ones.

This may make it a lttle complicated but just run any 4 different Park runs and the detail will unfold as we move through the pilot 6 months.

The winner of the Park Run 4 competition will be the person who shows the biggest improvement in their performance. As a base, I will initially produce an individual target for each Park run for all of those who did 4 in the Summer Series, but everyone is encouraged to participate, let me know and I’ll produce individual targets for you.

Your first opportunity to compete – apparently, there’s an extra Lyme Park Run on New Year’s Day.
