Thursday April 28th.
Cheshire Grand Prix, Race 3
Summer Series, Race 7
Views on the temperature varied between 1 and 3 degrees, either way it was cold and wet. Nicky bounced her Range Rover nervously into a wet, muddy field. We speculated negatively on the possibility of some of the saloons ever getting out again, we pushed a few cars at the end but some were stuck in down to their bodywork.
Wilmslow numbers registered were 46 and, even with 7 failing to make the start line, this was the biggest turn-out so far this year. What’s more, it being the Grand Prix, we boasted quality as well as quantity.
Damian in 10th. place edged Peter in 12th. by 5 seconds. Graham, making a rare appearance was 47th., Tom 81st. and Jeremy, after a long injury lay-off, 92nd. This secured us second place in the Grand Prix to Vale Royal. After three races our men are in 4th. place behind Vale Royal, South Cheshire and Macclesfield.
Sharon was 8th. lady followed by Louisa, Diane and Huma. This gave us 2nd. place at Kingsley but we retain overall leadership.
Matt made it 7 races, 7 wins in League 2 – only April and League 2 championship looks all over. Jarrod was only 9 seconds behind, then Steve, 2 seconds ahead of Tim, Christian, Peter, Paul, Louisa and Mick with identical times and Diane.
Bernard, who has not been at his best, suddenly found it to win League 3 from Gareth. Alan was next home followed by Huma, Amy and Sally. Then came Chris and Andy.
James kept-up his 100% record in League 4. Sally now has three wins and two seconds. Colin had his best finish of the year ahead of Gail and Sue. Ian, last again, is pining for the return of Simon.
Cat had a brilliant run, the pace of her improvement since she started ‘the project’ is phenomenal. Leanne, who is in excellent form and excels at the shorter distances was second and Jan was also at her best. Peter, after running two races in two years has now run two in a week and he too, produced an impressive run. Elspeth showed she was over her marathon just ahead of Julie, who lacks mileage. Roy produced his best result since his knee op. Belinda and Trevor brought-up the Wilmslow contingent.
As I passed 4k, the hail-storm, broke and with a driving wind, though it was worse for the better runners making the kilometre back from the finish to the car park. The walk back for us was also cold and miserable.
We had a good night winning M40 (Peter), M60 (Tom), F40 (Sharon), M65 (Mick), F55 (Sally) and M70 (Ian).

There were also two club records.
Peter Speake took Rob Downs 16.06mins for V40 down below 16mins, and Peter Watson set a new V75 record.
Both having set records at Whitley. Well done to both.
