parkrun ‘Summer Series’ update

Saturday 7/11/15 

This was the last chance to post a Summer Series 5k Road & Trail time. The clash with Langley 7 and XC, meant there  would be fewer WRC runners out and about however I didn’t expect the inclement weather to effect the parkrun runners numbers quite so badly.

Bramhall the first time this year with less than 300, Wilmslow with 78, fewest since it started.

At Congleton with half as many runners as last week, Matt finished second in 20.14 , didn’t improve on his time, Roy finished in 28.28 a great time considering the conditions, another 2 seconds faster and he would have caught Belinda.

Tony, Louisa and I had the same idea at Lyme Park, Tony had Geoff in his sights could he trim 3 seconds off his time to take an extra point, I had 6 others in my sights, surely I could trim 30 seconds off my time of 24.41 and catch Huma leapfrogging a further 5 places, Louisa 30 seconds off her time of 22.47 would have pushed her 4 places up the table. We were all disappointed… apart from Carolyn who under the circumstances ran a good time of 29.33 to put her onto the table just behind Soraya.

The conditions were awful, the wind almost took my car door off its hinges when we parked up, a strong head wind on the tough climb at the start, wet and slippy up to the cage, other runners falling and slipping badly on the downhill from the cage and after the sharp left turn where the 1k uphill to the finish starts the wind is back in your face. Under the conditions our times were pretty good, Louisa 23.19 Tony 25.38 Chris 25.53.
