The one mile event has a certain magic to it…Many will reflect and think fondly of the magic of Sir Roger Bannister creating immortality by running the first "Sub 4 minute mile" in 1954.
Few will remember other landmark events…ie. sub 10 seconds for 100 metres etc.
The one mile is one area where we have no club records…its a distance we rarely race over of course.
Its a classic mix of lactic sapping speed and lung filled endurance. The challenge of four laps…All at pace.
So a perfect challenge to create club records ( age related, male and female).

Agreed Tony.
The chance to race over this classic distance should be embraced! Running 4 laps in race conditions is not for the faint hearted : the challenge is open to all! Go for it! Nick
The flyer refers to the 2014 date, not to 2015 …
Google The Manchester Mile : It’s 1st July. Nick.
