We were very proud to see Di McVey running with the elite women.
It was extremely hot. Quote from Katy;
'Take 3 mins off your time everyone – a physicist I met on the tram home said it was practically like running in 40 degrees in the shade because of our body heat and the outside air heat molecules.'
A great atmosphere, with plenty of opportunity to celeb spot. There were more WRC runners than anticipated and the men actually had a team. I was glad to be in the first wave and back home for lunch. When dropping my daughter off at the station at 5.30pm I saw some runners just returning from Manchester!
Nicky
I’m going to take another 30 seconds off for climbing onto the central reservation on the dual carrigeway so I could give Di a cheer as she raced passed . Proud is just how I felt .
So that’s 3.30 off my time , so a PB . I’ll take anything at the moment .
I’m all for blaming the outside air heat molecules – it sounds so much better than being old, slow and knackered
Well done everybody, it was great to watch on TV later that day and shows Manchester in a great light. The best bit for me was seeing Di heading off with Tirunesh and the other Elites, I was extremely proud! I also spotted a line of Wilmslow vests when they showed the main start, always a proud moment on national tele!!
Thanks for that Chris it was much appreciated!! 3 minutes off our time? Sounds great, a pb for many of us then!!
And Pete Stock was running with his daughter, who did a pb by 2 mins, so we can round that up to 5! She’ll be delighted!
