The Nationals took place today at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.
Its a classic event steeped in tradition, and a race that everyone should try once.
Despite adverse weather in recent weeks, the ground was dry, firm and very runnable. Similar to Heaton Park in October. A few muddy patches and one testing climb with a couple of other undulations. All agreed that a fine course and great organisation. Two laps totalling 8k for the ladies and three laps for the men totalling 12k.

There is still for historical & legacy reasons, a nine to count team result… Here WRC men finished 36th out of 56.
Steve Vernon in winning became the most decorated runner in the history of the Nationals… Congratulations Steve !
Well done to all that ran and thanks for being part of a very good day at an iconic event.

Also in that 2nd photo of Don, Jonnie Brownlee running in his Bingley vest, 9th! A class field, a great course after our MACCL adventures with some firm running underfoot. Imagine that!
A great day out. If you’ve not done this before…seriously, next year. As a running ‘experience’, irrespective of your form, position or any of that competitive stuff, this is something quite special!
Rich
For those who do not recognise the Bingley vest, he is no. 6214.
