The Langdale Horseshoe, Saturday 12th October
The Langdale Horseshoe fell race (one of the Lakeland Classics), was run on Saturday, and the club was well represented with Jeremy trying his hand on the fells, and showing the 'old hands' Ian, Adam, Jon and Andy a clean pair of heels.
As an alternative to Windgather it offered 13.1 miles, 5,000ft of ascent, mud up to your thighs, and terrain described as 'technical'. Jeremy found this a bit of an understatement – after having lowered himself over the famous 'bad step' until he was hanging by his finger tips, his feet still did not touch solid ground!
The weather was excellent with good visibility, making navigation easier than it often is in this event.
1 Ben Abdelnoor – 2.07.00
41 Jasmin Paris – 2.26.27
183 Jeremy Bygrave – 3.03.28
191 Ian Smallwood – 3.06.23
262 Adam Neale – 3.21.09
282 John Bale – 3.23.40
306 Andy Watts – 3.30.40
381 finishers
The Bob Graham bi-annual dinner was held the same evening, with presentation of certificates to people who have completed the BG during the last two years – Jon and Andy included.
That’s amazing!
