A perfect evening for this very popular local fell race following three days of unaccustomed sunshine and blue skies which clearly tempted quite a few people out for a bit of exercise, because 179 runners turned up – about forty more than usual I was told.
With Bowdon the following evening only a few wayward individuals (or nutters?) from WRC turned out this year, including Stuart Parrott making a very rare appearance. An injury-free Julie always runs this her favourite race, which on this occasion coincided nicely to make her ‘elite’ FV50 race debut. This was just a warm-up for a fantastic run at Bowdon.
With very dry conditions making the going firm underfoot, along with a pleasant breeze on the top, it meant times were generally quicker than usual. No-one was injured; no-one got lost; the frisky heifers and deer stayed out of the way – and there were no midges !!
