Whilst various others were completing half marathons, I travelled down to Market Drayton to run in this “little” race.
As it turned out 1400 other souls also had the same idea and as seems to happen no matter how far you travel nowadays, I spotted another Wilmslow vest warming up prior to the race, this time it was Leanne Byrne.
The good folk of Market Drayton turned out in force to cheer everyone along a mainly flat, although not particularly inspiring course and we were rewarded with all kinds of goodies once through the finish.
A well organised race, on closed roads, heavens knows how many marshals, they seemed to be on every corner and side street, and a big carnival including live music at the start finish.
I was glad I made the trip and glad the rain held off until driving home

The course wasn’t the most scenic until near to the end and with a few hilly bits I was chuffed with my time-a new pb. For all of those who appreciate their food like me out there the goodie bag was fantastic! Muller yoghurts, mars bar, gingerbread man, free pint of beer voucher, pork pie-all that was missing was a lucozade!!!:-/
Didn’t realise it was a PB Leanne, sorry, would have flagged it up in the blurb, well done.
well done on your PB Leanne..I’ll look after that goody bag for you!
