Feel sure that reports , pictures and much more will soon be on the site but delighted to say that we did just fine !
We came provisionally 32nd out of 59 competing teams in the 219 mile and 20 stage relay . For those not up to speed , it starts at Caernavon at 10.30 Saturday and finishes in Cardiff Castle around 5.00pm Sunday .This was the 30th running of the event and our first attempt : One team from Germany .
Everyone did themselves proud .
Well done all.
Nick.
Looking forward to hearing the reports from the weekend – to finish so far up the field requires a massive team coordination and club representation and is a real achievement by everybody involved. Really disappointed to have had to have dropped out with injury early in the planning but hope you all enjoyed taking part in this great event. I’m now up to 4 miles on the dodgy foot so hope to be joining training again soon. Clare
Many thanks for the great support and organisation from Andy, Carolyn and many others. I was utterly exhausted last night, luckily there was enough adrenalin flowing round the system for the drive home. Great being part of a team, and knowing that helped to keep me running up the massive hill at the end of my run. 1500ft of climbing in 11 miles 🙁 I’m looking forward to Llandudno 😉 Well done to everyone who competed as it didn’t look like there were any easy stages, as even the ‘flat’ ones had plenty of hills. Hope this is a regular event 🙂
What a wonderful experience and testament to the logistical skills of Andy and Carolyn we had a runner on the start line of each stage, no runner was abandoned at the end of a stage, we all had a bed for the night and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Don thanks for driving.
Roll on next year I hope!

One of the great things about this event was the wide variety of participants including handicapped runners and a full spread of ages. (and I’m old enough to remember when there were no or very few ladies in road races…)
A glance at the records also shows that some rather brisk athletes have contested many stages. Just now I noticed that the record for one stage was by a certain Martin Rees and then I noticed he was second in either the last or penultimate stage this year.
Martin Rees has held World Masters Records for several distances whilst holding down a real job in the steel industry. What a great, open sport running is!
If you haven’t heard of Martin check him out either on the above site (several distances) or P10.
Ray,
Thanks. I’ve looked at the link you posted above. Running 50 minutes for 10 miles and 66 minutes for a half marathon as a V50 are very impressive! Clearly I’ve got a bit of improving to do in the next 6 months 🙂
Hope you don’t mind me posting here but we have over 4000 photos of the WCR.
Day 1 a bit patchy but other than Leg 11 (where I got some) nearly 100% of runners on day 2, plus others of supporters.
