Gladys Burrill was not thinking about breaking a world record when she power-walked and jogged through the Honolulu Marathon at the age of 92.
But Ms Burrill, a part-time Hawaii resident nicknamed the "Gladyator", learned soon after finishing the December 12 race in a time of nine hours and 53 minutes that she probably qualified for the title.
Now Guinness World Records has confirmed her accomplishment and the Hawaii House of Representatives has honoured her with a certificate and lei at a special ceremony.
