After possibly the hardest day yet, the team arrived in Irvine, a few miles further than the Kilmarnock target. The 120 mile journey fought a headwind the whole way, with some rain on crossing the border (which did not prevent the traditional 'crossing' photographs!). However, they are maintaining excellent progress, well ahead of schedule.
So far they have covered 613 miles in a total of 43 hours, an average of over 14 mph, and they have settled down to 10 hour days (of which about 8 1/2 hours are actually moving).
Tomorrow they enter deepest Scotland, including the ferry from Gourock to Dunoon in order to bypass Glasgow and keep to a scenic coastal course. They hope to reach Oban.
keep up the good work Malc and mates you are only just over the water when you reach oban Good luck.
