The British Masters hosts a range of events and can be viewed via the site www.bvaf.org.uk.
We fielded a V60 team yesterday in the British Road Relays held in the great setting of Sutton Park , Birmingham . Selected and representing Wilmslow were Tony , Andy and Mick.
This was a prestigious blue ribbon event and one that we will certainly want to target in future years .
On arrival , with tents pitched everywhere , a 40 page printed programme and clubs representing the extremities of Britain , we knew we were competing at a National level !
Clare Stevenson appeared and with her previous experience gave us an impromptu briefing !
Close to 50 teams were competing the V60 category , including last years bronze medallists Altrincham .
Andy was to run leg one , Tony leg two and Mick bring the team home .Three legs of a shade over five miles of an undulating parkland course with a very early testing hill.
Andy ran an excellent first leg bringing us back in tenth , allowing Tony to pull back some more places to seventh ……Mick had a big ask to chase medals but captured a further place and the team finished an excellent 6th in our first trip to the British Masters Relays . Altrincham were outside the medals this year finishing 8th.
We await final results via the above site but leg times were approx :
Andy : 18.40
Tony : 18.50
Mick : 18.22
A great event , a great result and one we want to target in number next year . Its a tremendous sight to see our club competing at a national level.
Nick.
