NVAC Cross Country Championships

Warrington

This seemed like a good idea to slightly make up for the disappointment of not being allowed to run in the Cheshire's.  But 4 laps of a big flat field is a hard way to run 10km and having being found wanting for pace early on I ran the last 9.5km on my own to finish 5th overall but in a strong field only 3rd V45.

My spirits were however fully restored after the race talking to Don George a Sale Harriers V70 and parkrun enthusiast.  He explained that although carrying a painful knee injury he'd run to complete their V70 "B" team – incredibly they'd fielded no less than 2 V70 teams and a V75 team.

1 Paul Freary V40 Belgrave
5 Rob Downs 3 V45

Results are hard to find for NVAC / BMAF events.  I would be surprised if Bingley hadn't won most of the team prizes.

  1. I used to do NVAC events regularly and can recommend them (to vets!) The fields are small and friendly with a wide range of talent. Often there is a shorter distance option, usually for the male super-super vets and ladies. Prizes for most because most runners take one to the race.
