The severe weather prompted a course inspection at 9.00 today but was declared fit .
The going was very firm and icy underfoot , but just about runnable : It did mean that for once everyones legs were clean at the finish .
The League carried out a memory to Sue Hoole before the ladies race . A short tribute was read out by the League and a one minute round of applause followed ……A nice touch .
Support was well received and thanks to Simon , Angie , Christine , Francis McGaff and Phil ( Thanks Louise ).
The sound of pounding feet on crunched frozen ice followed as the ladies got underway . The improving Louise Rudd lead the ladies home in 8th place and was well supported by Katy Geen , Nicky Mowat and Kate Sutton in 34th , 38th and 41st respectively .
Great back up from Claire Hawkes and Sarah Waite , 48th and 49th , with Sally Price 53rd. Chasing them home were Penny Hinke 68th , Nina Birch 89th and Monique Geraghty 91st .
Well done all.
Thanks ladies for the super support given to the men , it makes a big difference .
For the first time this season , the men had a full team and what a difference it makes ……suffice to say that we won both senior men and vets races !!
Damian ran a fine race for 6th place with Malcolm 14th and Rob 15th.Tom and Jim followed in 23rd and 24th with Stuart making the counters in 30th .
Trevor Morris gave great support in 45th and the cavalry followed ….Mark Bale 90th ,Steve Smith 97th …..Cant see Ian Smallwood in the results …..you must have been in that bunch Ian ? I have queried this with the League.Tony 112, Nick 119 , Don 127, Peter 134, Roy 164 and Trevor 171.
