Bramhall Park 5k Oct 10: Roaring Roy goes for treble

There's no stopping Roy at the moment. He kicked off his Saturday with a new PB at Bramhall (by an impressive 23 secs), then joined us 5 hours later for the Manchester Uni cross country relays where he did 2 legs no less (full report to follow when results come out – for comedy value alone it's worth waiting for)

Pete had another strong run and it was great to see Nick back enjoying his running and dipping under 20 mins. Carla, despite complaining of "leg trouble", also made serious in-roads into her PB for the course.

1: Will Hardman 17.33

12: Pete Bannister 19.30

19: Nick Bishop 19.54

53: Roy Pownall 22.46

93: Carla Owen 24.39

111: Stephen Faber 25.40

209 ran

  1. Not only did Roy race three times yesterday, but he was 2nd V60 at Congleton today!

  2. Even more remarkable in the relays The Wilmslow ‘B’ team with ‘Three times a day Roy’ managed to beat Wilmslow ‘A’ team according to the results. The organisers seem to have missed Stuart finishing and so have disqualified the ‘A’ team.
Who is ‘Damien Downs?’ some kind of hybrid?
    Best I can work out from the A team results timewise is;
    Damien 11:26
    Rob 12:15
    Jim 12:09
    Stuart/Ray combined 26:26
    Malcolm 13:00
We would have been 21st if not disqualified, which by some uncanny co-incidence is exactly the position we finished in last year!

  3. I think I did 13.34 +/- a bit so Stuart did 12.50 ish.
    (Both slower than last year)

  4. Fastest times this year were about 35-40 seconds slower than last year so you need to take this into account when comparing times. I think the course must have been marked out slightly longer although it looked the same to me!

  5. I’m glad you added your comment Malcolm. I’ve just looked at the results on Clare’s e-mail. I noticed that we all seemed to be slower as also some other good veterans.
Either the course has mysteriously changed or the timekeeping is suspect!

  6. I also ran the BRTT Race 77, but perhaps finished after Jim had gone home: 128th in 26.42. This was a personal worst by 33 seconds; so, quite encouraging!
