Potters Arf Marathon

14th June 2009.

After reading Amanda's report on this race in the Newsletter I decided to enter and do it for myself, and I have to say I really enjoyed it.  The support for the runners is amazing, with people lining the whole route and even shooting hosepipes across the road to help cool you down.  As you finish in Stoke town centre the course is just a sea of people cheering you home.  I would recommend this race to anyone, and am sure that the three of us will be back again next year.

Special mention to Nick for turning up on his bike, complete with megaphone, to cheer us all on – thanks Mr Chairman.

  1. Pleasure , enjoyed seeing you out doing your bit !!
Saw a few from Park Run also.
Seems the runners enjoyed the crazed cyclist : Rob tells me that there is a thread on the RW forum . Think they thought it was all part of the race !!
In London this week and Newcastle next .
    Wokingham last week.
With you all mentally if not in reality .
    Nick.

  2. I was just browsing your club site and saw your comments on the ‘Potters arf’and couldn’t agree more. It was the first time I’ve run this one myself and I have to say apart from a few gripes about parking it’s one of the best around, in fact almost as good as a similar race held in Wilmslow !. There are a couple of testing hills which make it an interesting course so I was very happy to finish in 1:33:00.
