A great performance from Stacey Ward (Basildon AC) today gave us a new women’s course record by over 45s. Meanwhile over 200 others enjoyed 5k in the fine Bank Holiday weather.
Stacey had set the previous course record on her first visit to the park in the Christmas holidays. This time she knew the course and led the race from the start. Until the finish straight it looked like she’d hold the lead and become our first ever female overall winner. However Jack Morris (Stockport Harriers) timed his effort perfectly and was able to sprint past to win by a couple of yards in 16:53. Stacey’s age graded score of 87.57% puts her well up the all time list.
Not far back Mark also scored a PB.
