13th July 2008
A good turnout for one of nearest and most entertaining hill races.
The Mayor of Bollington started the race with a few fine words, along the lines of the “orf you go”.
We proceeded up hill out of the town, Jim and Colin disappeared into the distance. Joe, Mike and me swopped places several times. (The shorter legs being stronger on the ups and longer ones are better suited to the downs). The canal provided a bit of light relief, with Joe and Mike steaming ahead, I awaited the next uphill. The uphill through the woods was lovely, all flowers and ferns, although the final descent is quite punishing on the knees I was pleased to have made it.
The presentation was very low key, but plenty of tea and cakes made up for the lack of Wilmslow winners.
