Manchester XC League : Round five

What a day : so much to fight for ….what would be the outcome after the final races for men and ladies ? What would be the colour of the medals and how many ?

What I do know is that the men won both senior and vets races on the day and won the vets overall for the third year running but also moved up to second senior team this year , behind Trafford but ahead of another 14 clubs ( Sale , Salford , Stockport and Altrincham included).

The ladies had a marvellous season finishing "second senior team"overall but were squeezed out of the medals in the vets category : we feel for you after all the hard work …the sign of greatness is how you bounce back : next year !! Thanks for your great support today also.

There was some confusion at the prize giving so will update in more detail when the full results come out .We had numerous individual winners and full details will be posted once available. If my memory is correct :

Awards were given to Claire Stevenson (3rd lady) and Captain Kate ( 2nd V45)

Malcolm won male vet 40 , with Rob a top three vet 40 winner also .

Jim was 5th overall in the open age.

Tom won V50 category and Gavin was pushed out at the last race of a medal finish in the V55 category.

There could be a medal for Trevor if his category are included .

It has been an awesome season . We had a record turnout of 27 today : Fantastic ! Wythenshawe Park was truly a mass of blue and gold. This eclipses the 23 that we had out at Stockport for the final race of last year.

Be proud of all of your contributions : each person has played a telling part in their own way: I do hope that you can all join us at the end of season XC hot pot bash : date tbc once confirmed with Chairman Roy.

Thanks to all that have supported us : Tony , Roy , Paul and Dave today. We also had supporting us today Trevor Morris and the "morrislets". Trevor was due to make his debut until illness struck : Nationals Trevor in two weeks ?

Thanks to Paul and Tony for the guidance at training .

We hope to have photos from today via Geoff Gilbert .

Puff out those chests and pat yourselves on the backs . One team working together …Wilmslow Running Club

Enjoy your next run wherever you are.

Nick.
