Winter XC Championships

One further date for diaries ; Saturday 5th January : Cheshire XC Championships @ Forest Park , Birchwood , Warrington. We have never won the Cheshires according to Tony so clearly an imortant event .

Manchester League XC Championships : entries have now been submitted. The dates were posted to the site recently and can be viewed by checking Manchester XC League dates under "recent posts".

Last year, we had 42 members who completed at least one race in the Manchester League : an outstanding achievement by you all.

We have entered all last years runners and in addition Kate has new talent to include .

We can also enter on the day anyone not previously entered .

We achieved great success last year , the men retaining the Vets title and placing 3rd overall. The ladies were narrowly squeezed out of a medal finish in the Vets but are gunning for success in that category this year : who would bet against them ? In the open age , they also had a very encouraging first season with more to come as the squad develops .

While myself and Kate are keen to turn competitive teams out at each race , we do appreciate that there are other demands on everyones days .We have a five race series , some being on Saturdays and others on Sundays . We would also like to do well at the Cheshire Championships mentioned earlier.

Conscious that we currently have some injuries and we are at the end of a long summer of events , please take a look at the dates for your diaries . Not everyone can commit to each event or will even want to ! With some sensible planning , we can ensure that we turn out competitive teams to match last years achievements and perhaps surpass in some areas .

We want all to enjoy the rough and tumbles , thrills and spills and camarderie that XC brings particularly from the "team" aspect.

With your help and the planning of everyones availabilities , we can turn out strong teams even allowing for non availabilities . Those that want to race regularly , you are very welcome : Those that can only commit to one or two , you are equally welcome : Those that dont want to do any , you are most welcome to come and support us !

Myself and Kate have also discussed the planning for each race of a post race pub that can be agreed ahead of each event , to allow us to retire to and relect with a relaxing drink and a bowl of something warm !

Any suggestions of how we can make the season more enjoyable for all in any way , please do let us know : The new Wilmslow tops which look great came out of a suggestion from Gavin , Ian S and Rob Dunkley : Be sure to wear your colours with pride !

Heres to a great winter : First race Saturday 27th October @ Heaton Park , and to remind you of the honest endeavours ! Go for it ladies !
