My work takes me away to the Midlands every week and I’m getting a bit frustrated missing all the Summer midweek races. As compensation I entered this convenient but high quality 5. Looking at the results from 2005 I realised that this must be either a fast course or a very fast field particularly in the vet categories. It turned out to be both – a whole pack of silver haired whippets led nearly 500 runners round a wide undulating route. But I hadn’t reckoned on the weather: torrential rain, flooded roads, watterlogged race shoes and up one of the hills it was really "blowing a Shady Oak".
In better weather this would be a pb course perhaps similar to Upton or Alsager – so maybe I’ll try again next year.
